Congratulations To the Entrepreneurs In the UPBI Partner Programs!

These entrepreneurs were awarded $2,000 grants funded through support from the Coca Cola Foundation and awarded based on the entrepreneur's progress in moving their business forward by at least 25 of our 80 activity steps. In the coming months there are plans to award more grants, but for now go check out the recipients!

The initial awardees from the San Diego Cohort include:

La Mesa Christian Bookstore

La Mesa Christian Bookstore was launched by Ashton Fulcher, who was in the inaugural cohort of the San Diego program in Fall, 2021.  As a result of the program, the business has been able to refine its retail strategy and prioritize implementation into phases, which is helping to maximize the business’ resources.  It has also developed operational plans that will streamline important aspects of the business.  With the funds provided by the grant, they will be increasing inventory supply and updating displays, and investing in marketing.

Earth to Marrs

William Mars, founder of Earth to Marrs attended the first San Diego program in Fall 2021 and has invented an automatic toilet paper dispenser.  As a result of the program, Earth to Marrs was able to develop a two-year projection as well as refine their target market, create a high production commercial, and website to speak to their customer base.  They have developed an operational plan, onboarding and written job descriptions.  With the funds provided by the grant, part will be used to develop the prototype and part will be used to fund the printed circuit board needed for the product.
